Welcome to Minding Your Body

A tailored approach to bodywork

Experience Craniosacral Therapy, Manual Lymph Drainage, Deep Tissue Massage, and Cupping Massage Therapy offered by Elizabeth Cornell, LMT, CST. These three modalities are highly effective by themselves or in tandem with each other. They help reduce stress, increase wellness, and experience your body in a different way during and following a session.

My approach to bodywork has been refined over 30+ years of experience and rests on two main pillars:

  • I view the body as a whole entity composed of integrated physical parts and systems that sometimes have stories to tell. For example, chronic pain in the neck may be the result of a fall long ago or surgery in the hip area. Treating the neck alone may relieve some of the discomfort. But giving treatment to the hip or pelvis as well as the neck, and if it's relevant, hearing your story of what happened, can bring deeper and longer lasting reduction of your neck pain.

  • Every client can expect a bodywork session tailored to their needs, whether it's deep tissue work, a gentle touch to deeply engage the subtler rhythms and systems in your body, or somewhere inbetween. The goal is always help you achieve your goals, such as pain reduction, freedom of movement, a deep state of relaxation, and/or a sense of overall well-being throughout the body.  Read more about the benefits of bodywork.

Getting a treatment

If you’ve never received any of these treatments before, here are some tips on how to prepare and what to expect:

  • Arrive to your first treatment with an open mind, especially if you're receiving a treatment other than deep tissue massage.

  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing if receiving craniosacral therapy or manual lymph drainage; for cupping, expect to follow the standard procedure of removing clothes and being draped with a cover for modesty.

  • During the session, focus your attention on your body; if your brain is constantly talking turn its attention to the what you’re physically feeling.

  • You might find yourself in a pleasurable state between wakefulness and sleep.

  • It’s OK to fall asleep.

  • It’s OK to talk during the session.

  • Whatever you feel or notice during the session is OK--there's no "right way" to receive this bodywork.

  • The effects of bodywork are cumulative. With regular bodywork sessions--whether once a week or once a month--you'll notice positive changes overtime in your body and how you move through the world. Learn more about each modality.
